A 3-year-old girl was bitten by a coyote in Irvine, but suffered only superficial wounds.
The girl was bitten about 5:50 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Equinox and Silverado, said Irvine Police Lt. Cathy Scherer.
She was taken by a private party to a hospital, Scherer said
The record California drought is forcing coyotes and other wild animals to enter suburban neighborhoods in search of food and water.
