A woman riding a tricycle was struck and killed by a DUI driver in Garden Grove, authorities said Wednesday.
The accident occurred near the intersection of Chapman and Faye avenues around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, said Garden Grove Police Lt. Jeff Nightengale.
The victim, aged in her 50s, and the dog she was carrying in a basket attached to the tricycle were struck by a small pickup truck driven by Rita Faye McLaughlin, Nightengale said. The victim died at the scene and her dog died at a veterinary clinic, he said.
McLaughlin, 58, of Santa Ana, was to be booked on suspicion of felony DUI, Nightengale said.
