A three-vehicle crash in Huntington Beach left a 14-year-old boy dead and a man in custody on suspicion of driving while impaired, police said Friday.
The crash occurred at Newland Street and Adams Avenue about 7:35 p.m. Thursday, the Huntington Beach Police Department reported.
The 14-year-old boy was riding in a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck driven by his 18-year-old male cousin when it was hit by a Nissan Frontier pickup truck, police said.
The boy, whose name was withheld pending notification of his relatives, died at a hospital, police said. His cousin suffered moderate injuries. Another passenger suffered a minor injury.
The driver of the Nissan, a 39-year-old Santa Ana man, suffered minor injuries, and was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI resulting in death. His name was not immediately released.
After the collision, the Toyota hit a light pole and the Nissan crashed into another vehicle.
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call police Investigator Robert Barr at (714) 536-5666, or (714) 960-8825.
