Leobardo Valladares of Anaheim was convicted last month of first-degree murder in the Sept. 15, 2013, shooting death of 48-year-old Francisco Salgado Torres of Anaheim.

A waitress had complained to the defendant — who was a regular at the Oasis Bar — that Torres had been bothering her, according to Senior Deputy District Attorney Cynthia Herrera.

The defendant said he would talk to Torres and followed the victim — who had a blood-alcohol level of 0.20 percent — into the parking lot of the bar at 10448 Knott Ave, the prosecutor said.

The two starting arguing and Torres shoved the defendant, who responded by shooting him in the face and chest, Herrera said.

Valladares turned himself in five days later, according to the prosecutor.
