A 45-year-old Santa Ana High School science teacher is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on charges of statutory rape and possession of child pornography.
Alvar Albert Gonzalez of Santa Ana met the alleged victim when she was in one of his classes as a freshman, according to Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.
Sometime in 2013, Gonzalez arranged to have the then-16-year-old girl meet him in his class during lunch, according to Bertagna. The two had sex about nine times on various occasions in the classroom on lunch breaks, Bertagna alleged.
Last year, Gonzalez allegedly kissed another teenage student, who went to authorities, Bertagna said. The teacher was then placed on administrative leave.
As the case was under investigation, school officials found allegedly inappropriate images on computers the suspect was using, which led investigators to the girl with whom he allegedly had sex, Bertagna said.
Investigators said they are concerned there may be more alleged victims. Anyone with information was asked to call detectives at (714) 245-8542.
