Lights were back on in Seal Beach Tuesday morning, and Southern California Edison workers continued repairing a transformer that failed, leaving nearly 2,000 residents of Leisure World in Seal Beach and the surrounding area without power for several hours, authorities said.

The outage affected residents in Leisure World and the area of Seal Beach Boulevard and Golden Rain Road, Leisure World security officer Mary McRaney told City News Service. It appeared lights were back on around the community and on Seal Beach Boulevard by 3:30 a.m., she said.

The outage began at about 7 p.m. Monday, Southern California Edison said on its website.
