Residents of a Tustin apartment complex were allowed to return to their units early Monday after a check of one unit believed to be used as a drug lab yielded seven arrests, police said.

“Neighbors called in suspicious activity” at the Rancho Alisal complex in the 13800 block of Parkcenter Lane just after 10 p.m. Sunday, said Tustin police Sgt. Jeff Taylor.

About 18 apartments were evacuated and police called in Orange County Fire Authority hazardous materials specialists, who determined “there was some type of drug activity” in one unit, said Tustin police Lt. Robert Wright.

“They had some type of devices in there,” he said, but the apartment was determined to be safe and police withdrew to get a search warrant and allowed neighbors to return.

Booked on suspicion of a variety of violations, including manufacturing an illegal drug extraction lab and animal endangerment, were:

— Thomas Morgan, 30, of Tustin;

— Kyle Kramer, 26, of Tustin;

— Adrianna Kruk, 25, of Tustin;

— Zachary Hawkins, 24, of Odenton, Florida;

— Steven Dinger, 26, of Rotonda West, Florida;

— Christopher Origlio, 25, of Crofton, Maryland; and

— Robert Chappell, 33, of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina.
