
A motorist was killed in a collision between a jeep and a car on the San Diego (5) Freeway in Mission Viejo, according to the California Highway Patrol in Orange County.
The motorist was later identified as San Diego resident Luke Harris, 20, according to the coroner’s office.
The crash took place on the southbound 5 Freeway at the Crown Valley Parkway onramp, just north of Saddleback College, at 11:10 p.m. Friday, according to the CHP.
Harris was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner’s office.
The crash shut down the No. 1, 2 and 3 lanes on the southbound 5 Freeway. A SigAlert was issued by the CHP at 11:48 p.m. The lanes were cleared and the SigAlert was cancelled at 3:22a.m., according to the CHP.
The crash remained under investigation.
