A 23-year-old Laguna Beach man, who was out of custody awaiting sentencing for leading police on a chase, pleaded not guilty Friday to breaking into an Irvine business and trying to run away from arresting officers.
Ryan James Adrig was charged with second-degree burglary, a felony, and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor.
Adrig pleaded guilty on July 20 to evading police and reckless driving, resisting arrest, both felonies, and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, according to court records. He was scheduled to be sentenced in that case in November.
An Irvine businessman was alerted at 1 a.m. Thursday to a break-in at his company in the 14900 block of Sand Canyon Avenue, according to Irvine police Cmdr. Mike Hallinan.
The businessman was able to monitor the burglary remotely from his laptop computer, which was connected to surveillance video, Hallinan said.
The victim gave a description of the suspect to police, who arrested Adrig walking along Sand Canyon Avenue. Adrig tried to run away from police, but the officers caught up to him in the yard of the Irvine Animal Shelter, Hallinan said.
