A pair of fundraisers are scheduled next week for the family of a Navy explosives expert from Anaheim killed in northern Iraq.
Coronado-based Chief Petty Officer Jason Finan, 34, suffered fatal wounds from the Oct. 20 blast of an improvised explosive device, according to the Navy. The Anaheim native was assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 3.
Finan’s body arrived in San Diego on Friday and was taken by a procession of vehicles to a funeral home in Hillcrest. A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday.
From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Nov. 5, 20 percent of the proceeds at Boll Weevil Restaurant, 695 Saturn Blvd. in San Diego, will be donated to Finan’s family.
From noon to midnight that day, the Flesh Skin Grafix Tattoo Parlor, 1155 Palm Ave. in Imperial Beach, will provide small, pre-drawn tattoos for $40, according to the business. All proceeds will go to Finan’s family.
Finan left behind a wife and 7-year-old son.
