President — Republican Donald Trump will be the next president of the United States after the most contentious Presidential race in modern memory. In Orange County, however, Democrat Hillary Clinton was the winner with 49 percent of the vote to 45 percent.
Senate — Atty. General Kamala Harris is set to become California’s next Senator, with a lead of 64 percent to 36 percent with more than half of the votes counted statewide.
State Propositions — California looks set to legalize marijuana, with that proposition leading 56 percent 44 percent. Also leading are an extension of Gov. Jerry Brown’s emergency tax increase, background checks for ammunition sales, new cigarette taxes, a repeal of plastic-bag bans and the Medi-Cal fees extension. Losing are a repeal of the death penalty and voter approval of revenue bonds. Complete results are available on the California Secretary of State’s office.
Congress — Republican Rep. Darrell Issa, whose close ties to the Donald Trump campaign became a hot-button issue, led his Democratic challenger by 4 percentage points with over half the votes counted.
