A 13-year-old Irvine girl was hospitalized in critical condition with brain trauma Monday after a large tree fell on her during the latest storm, according to news reports.
Teresa Johnston left her home to walk dogs at 5 p.m. Friday and the 40- foot-tall tree in a greenbelt near Dewberry and Sandburg ways fell on her, according to the Orange County Register.
The girl’s injury is life-threatening, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.
Neighbors gathered outside the Johnston home Sunday night for a prayer vigil and to support the family, according to news reports.
Her sister, Misha, reportedly told the supporters prayers are needed and the family is setting up a gofundme.com page.
