A 24-year-old motorist suspected of driving drunk suffered minor injuries Sunday in a traffic crash in Garden Grove, where his vehicle flipped over the top of another car.
The motorist was driving south on Euclid Street when he lost control of his vehicle, causing him to strike a light pole and the clock tower at College Avenue, said Garden Grove police Lt. Carl Whitney.
Officers and firefighters dispatched to the scene at 3:30 a.m. arrived to find the motorist’s vehicle severely damaged and the driver was able to pull himself from the wreckage, Whitney said.
“A second citizen, who was involved in the accident said she was traveling south on Euclid Street, when she heard a loud crash behind her, as a vehicle flipped over the top of hers and tumbled further south of Euclid Street,” he said.
The woman suffered no injuries and her vehicle sustained minor damage from the debris from the other motorist’s vehicle.
The 24-year-old motorist was transported to UC Irvine Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries, he said. The motorist was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, Whitney said.
Garden Grove police traffic investigators asked anyone who saw the crash to call them at (714) 741-5230.
