
A crash involving a vehicle and a big rig shut down several lanes of the San Diego (5) Freeway Thursday morning in San Clemente.
The collision was reported at 4:24 a.m. near the El Camino Real onramp, the California Highway Patrol reported.
One of the drivers was trapped and needed to be extricated from the wreckage, according to a CHP traffic log. Information about injuries was not immediately available.
The No. 1, 2 and 3 lanes of the southbound side were closed as well as the No. 1 and 2 lanes of the northbound side. Shortly before 7 a.m., the northbound lanes were reopened, but the three lanes on the southbound side remained closed.
