Orange County health officials Thursday reported the county’s first flu-related death of the season — a male toddler.
The toddler was previously considered healthy, but died from complications related to influenza this week. Health officials said he was infected with influenza A.
“This is an important reminder that influenza can cause serious illness, particularly in the very young,” County Health Officer Dr. Eric Handler said. “Everyone over six months of age should be vaccinated each year.”
The toddler’s exact age and city of residence were not released.
