Police Wednesday were on the lookout for a man who groped a Huntington Beach middle school student as she was walking home from school.

The suspect approached the girl about 3:15 p.m. Monday at Edinger Avenue and Edwards Street, said Huntington Beach police Officer Angela Bennett.

The girl was able to run away to safety, Bennett said.

The suspect is a white man about 25 years old, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8 and weighing about 150 pounds, with brown hair, she said.

The suspect was wearing a dark turquoise shirt and jeans. A witness said he got into a small black car with tinted windows and black rims.

Anyone with information was asked to call the city’s tip line at (714) 375-5066 or police at (714) 960-8811.
