Garden Grove firefighters were battling a three- alarm blaze in a home Thursday that slightly injured a resident.
Firefighters were called at 8:48 a.m. for a fire in a home in the 9300 block of Royal Palm Blvd., Garden Grove Fire Capt. Thanh Nguyen said. Firefighters contained the blaze about 10 a.m., but were still on scene as of 10:45 a.m. mopping up and extinguishing flames in an attic area, said Fire Capt. Brad Spell.
A 57-year-old man who was living in the home as a renter sustained some “very minor burns” as he attempted to put out the flames, Spell said. The man declined to be taken to an area hospital, Spell said.

Two other residents, a couple in their 20s, got out safely, Spell said.
Fire alarms roused the residents, Spell said.
“It was a difficult firefight because the roof collapsed early on,” Spell said. “We had to withdraw and do an indirect attack from the exterior.”
The roof collapse prompted a third alarm, Nguyen said.
“The house is a total loss,” Spell said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
