The body of a man was found Monday on Brea Canyon Road near the southbound Orange (57) Freeway and an investigation was underway to determine if he died from a crash, authorities said.

The discovery was made about 4:30 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

The initial report was that a southbound vehicle may have struck the freeway’s center divider, gone down an embankment and flipped several times.

Whether the man’s death was related to the crash or discovered as a result of it was part of the investigation, CHP Officer Peter Nicholson told City News Service.

Brea Canyon Road was shut down south of Diamond Bar Boulevard.
