Five people were hurt and transported to a hospital Wednesday following a traffic collision involving a possible wrong-way driver in the Cypress Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Officers responded about 12:10 a.m. to calls of a driver going northbound in the southbound lanes of the Pasadena (110) Freeway, but it was unclear if it was a wrong way driver that caused the crash, according to Officer Tony Polizzi of the California Highway Patrol.

It’s unknown how many vehicles were involved in the accident, he said.

Two patients were transported in serious condition and three others suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The Nos. 1 and 2 lanes of the southbound Pasadena Freeway were closed at Avenue 43 while investigators looked into the cause of the crash.
