A person was killed Wednesday in a multi-vehicle crash on the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Costa Mesa.
Officers responded about 4:45 a.m. to the freeway near the Harbor Boulevard exit and found one vehicle with its lights out in the No. 1 lane, according to the California Highway Patrol.
About 5:10 a.m., a SigAlert was issued closing all northbound lanes. Three lanes were reopened about an hour afterward, the CHP reported.
The crash involved at least four vehicles and traffic was backed up past South Coast Plaza, NBC4 reported.
The cause of the accident was under investigation.
