A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday in a hit-and-run crash involving two big rigs on the southbound Orange (57) Freeway in the Brea area, blocking two lanes and snarling traffic for miles.

The crash occurred near Lambert Road shortly after 7 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene, the CHP reported. Information was not immediately available on the man’s identity.

The motorcyclist was entering the freeway via the Lambert Road onramp when he apparently tried to “split lanes” and drive between two big rigs — one of them in the No. 3 lane and the other in the No. 4 lane — and he was run over by both of them, said CHP Officer Florentino Olivera.

Both big rigs kept going. One was described as black and the other was described as green and white. It was unknown if either trucker was aware of the crash, and officers urged them to contact authorities, Olivera said.

Two southbound lanes were closed, along with the Lambert Road onramp to the southbound freeway, while an investigation was conducted.

Authorities urged the truckers or any possible witnesses to the crash to call CHP Officer Primeaux at 714-567-6000.
