Authorities identified a 23-year-old woman Sunday who was killed by a car in Tustin.

Mary Benjamin was hit walking along the southbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway, just north of Tustin Ranch Road, on Thursday about 11:40 p.m., the Orange County coroner’s office reported. There was no explanation as to why she was walking along the freeway.

Benjamin died at the scene, the coroner’s office reported.

The accident was being investigated by the California Highway Patrol’s Santa Ana office.
