Firefighters stopped a brush fire that burned in the Sepulveda Basin Saturday afternoon and temporarily shut down the G (Orange) Line Metro service through the area.
The half-acre brush fire was reported at 2:03 p.m. in the 6300 block of North Balboa Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Margaret Stewart.
Aircraft and 90 firefighters were dispatched to the scene and had the blaze fully contained by 3:04 p.m., Stewart said.
The aircraft were released and firefighters remained on the scene to mop up and put out any remaining hot spots, she said. No injuries were reported.
The Metro G line was temporarily shut down on Balboa Boulevard between Woodley and White Oak avenues due to the firefighting, Stewart said.
