A vehicle speeding away from an Anaheim restaurant where shots were fired crashed into a traffic signal early Monday morning, killing two people inside.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired at 12:10 a.m. at 1729 W. La Palma Ave. near Euclid Street and saw a vehicle speeding away, according to Anaheim police Sgt. Steve Pena.

The vehicle was speeding too fast for the officers to pursue it, Pena said.

Within minutes, the speeding vehicle crashed into a traffic signal pole at La Palma Avenue and Brookhurst Street, he said. Officers observed two people deceased inside.

Witness told dispatchers shots were fired into the air in the restaurant parking lot and officers found evidence of a shooting, Pena said. One man was detained at that scene.
