A man suspected of violating a domestic violence court order was barricaded in a car in the parking lot of an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Foothill Ranch early Thursday after leading Orange County Sheriff’s Department deputies on a chase from Mission Viejo.

“We’re still waiting for the gentleman to surrender peacefully and we hope the situation can be resolved soon,” said Sgt. Scott Steinle of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies were called at approximately 8:20 p.m. Wednesday to a home on Sweetbrier Lane in Mission Viejo regarding a man who was in violation of a domestic violence court order, Steinle told City News Service. The man fled in a car and was pursued by deputies until being cornered in the In-N-Out Burger parking lot.

Tactical teams and mental health specialists were called in and were negotiating with the suspect, Steinle said.
