The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County decreased Thursday for the 70th time in 72 days since rising to a record, dropping 1 cent to $5.308, its lowest amount since March 5.

The average price has dropped $1.154 since rising to a record $6.462 on June 14, including 1.3 cents Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It decreased for 67 consecutive days, was unchanged Sunday and Monday and resumed dropping Tuesday.

The average price is 4.2 cents less than one week ago and 47.1 cents lower than one month ago, but 91.7 cents more than one year ago.

The Orange County average price dropped eight-tenths of a cent to $5.208, its lowest amount since March 4. It has dropped $1.202 since rising to a record $6.41 June 12, including 1.4 cents Wednesday.

The Orange County average price is 2.2 cents less than one week ago and 47.9 cents lower than one month ago, but 85.2 cents more than one year ago.

The national average price dropped for the 72nd consecutive day since rising to a record, decreasing a half-cent to $3.878. It has dropped $1.138 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, including nine-tenths of a cent Wednesday.

The national average price is 5.3 cents less than one week ago and 47.7 cents lower than one month ago, but 73.1 cents more than one year ago.
