A high wind warning was issued for Riverside County through Monday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
The warning was in effect starting at 6 p.m. Sunday until 2 p.m. Monday for the entire county. Downtown Riverside, Temecula and Hemet will have winds at 15 to 25 mph and gusts as high as 40 mph, forecasters said. Coachella Valley and Palm Springs will experience winds slightly stronger, ranging from 20 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph.
“Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are possible . Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles,” the NWS announced.
“The strongest winds will be along the south-facing slopes and foothill areas, below the Morongo Pass, and through and below the Santa Ana Mountain canyons,” the NWS said.
Chilly temperatures in the low to mid 60s will accompany the high winds on Monday, dropping to the mid-30s at night throughout the county.
