The second of three people killed in a fiery single-vehicle crash on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Boyle Heights was identified Friday by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
The crash occurred Sunday at about 2:45 a.m. on the northbound freeway near the Calzona Street off-ramp, where a black SUV struck the right shoulder wall and then caught fire, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said. The county medical examiner told City News Service on Monday that a third victim had died at a hospital.
According to the county medical examiner, 19-year-old Heidy Lopez-Cruz was one of the individuals pronounced dead at the scene and was identified Thursday.
The second individual pronounced dead at the scene was 29-year-old Yeseia Rodriguez Cruz, who was identified Friday.
A Sigalert, issued at 3:04 a.m. Sunday closing the Calzona Street off-ramp was canceled at 7:47 a.m.
