The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Saturday to its highest amount since July 10, increasing seven-tenths of a cent to $4.772, rising for the 20th time in 21 days.
The average price has increased 28.1 cents over the past 21 days, including 1.4 cents Friday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It rose a half-cent Jan. 26 and four-tenths of a cent Jan. 27, dropped four-tenths of a cent Jan. 28 and resumed increasing Jan. 29.
The average price is 14.3 cents more than one week ago and 31.4 cents more than one month ago, but 2.5 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.722 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price rose to its highest amount since June 11, increasing four-tenths of a cent to $4.75, rising for the 19th consecutive day.
The Orange County average price has increased by 31.5 cents over the past 19 days, including eight-tenths of a cent Friday. It is 14.7 cents more than one week ago and 34.8 cents higher than one month ago but 1.2 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.709 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.
A five-day streak of increases to the national average price totaling 2.9 cents ended with a decrease of a half-cent to $3.16. It is 2.2 cents more than one week ago and 7.1 cents higher than one month ago, but 11.8 cents less than a year ago.
The national average price has dropped $1.856 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
The higher prices are the result of refineries beginning their transition to summer blend fuel, along with routine seasonal maintenance and an offline refinery in Northern California putting additional strain on supply, according to the AAA.
