A 45-year-old man was sentenced Friday to more than 41 years to life in prison for repeatedly sexually assaulting a girl he is related to in Buena Park, starting when she was about 6 years old.
Rodolfo Olanlanderos was convicted in August of sexual intercourse with a child 10 years or younger, continuous sexual abuse of a child and lewd act on a child 14 or 15, all felonies.
Orange County Superior Court Judge Walter Schwarm sentenced the defendant to 41 years to life, plus another eight months behind bars. The defendant has 1,539 days credit in jail.
Much of the case against the defendant relied on the testimony of the victim, who is now 19, Deputy District Attorney Scott Wooldridge said. But he also pointed to forensic evidence as well, such as what he said was the defendant’s semen found on a purple quilt belonging to the accuser.
Wooldridge said in a sentencing brief that the defendant sexually assaulted the girl “on a consistent basis for several years, multiple times a week, beginning when she was approximately 6 years old.”
The prosecutor added that there were times when the defendant “used physical force to hold the victim down and prevent her from resisting his sexual assaults. He threatened to kill her or her mother if she ever told anyone what he was doing to her.”
Olanlanderos would at times tell her “You know you like it,” and “No one will ever love you,” Wooldridge said.
The victim broke down multiple times during her testimony, the prosecutors said.
“It was obvious that the victim … is significantly traumatized by the actions of the defendant,” Wooldridge said.
Olanlanderos was “entrusted to care for the victim, a young and innocent child, while her mother worked two jobs, 80 hours a week,” Wooldridge said.
