The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped to its lowest amount since Jan. 31 Saturday, decreasing 1 cent to $4.52.
The average price has dropped six of the past seven days, decreasing 4 cents, including eight-tenths of a cent Friday, according to figures from AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It is 13.7 cents less than one month ago and 23.6 cents lower than one year ago. It has dropped $1.973 since rising to a record $6.493 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price also dropped to its lowest amount since Jan. 31, decreasing eight-tenths of a cent to $4.465. It has dropped eight of the past nine days, decreasing 3.9 cents, including 1.1 cents Friday.
The Orange County average price is 3.6 cents less than one week ago, 10.4 cents lower than one month ago and 20.4 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.993 since rising to a record $6.458 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The national average price dropped 1 cent to $3.157. It is nine-tenths of a cent more than one week ago and 2.9 cents more than one month ago, but 38 cents less than one year ago. The national average price has dropped $1.859 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
“It’s been four years since the national average has been this low during the summer,” according to AAA. “This season’s lower pump prices are due to an abundance of supply in the oil market.”
