The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped eight-tenths of a cent Saturday to $4.465, ending a streak of three consecutive slight decreases.

The average price is one-tenth of a cent less than one week ago, 11 cents less than one month ago and 14.7 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $2.028 since rising to a record $6.493 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price also fell after increasing for three straight days, dropping six-tenths of a cent to $4.412. The Orange County average price is four-tenths of a cent less than one week ago, 9.1 cents less than one month ago and 12.8 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $2.046 since rising to a record $6.458 on Oct. 5, 2022.

“California’s average gas price is holding steady this week, even with strong summer demand and a slight increase in crude oil prices,” Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, said in a statement released Thursday. “Drivers in several areas — including Los Angeles-Long Beach, San Diego, the Central Coast, Riverside and Bakersfield — are even seeing small drops at the pump, thanks to solid supply keeping prices in check.”

The national average price rose for the fourth consecutive day, inching up one-tenth of a cent to $3.152. It is two-tenths of a cent more than one week ago, but 1.9 cents less than one month ago and 32.8 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.864 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.

  1. $4.46 vs $3.15. When are Californians going to awaken and discover that those in Sacramento are not our friends? With this information, someone who puts just 10 gallons of gas in their tanks, will spend an additional $681. This is for just 10 gallons once a week. Next time you vote, ask yourself Is voting for the same person I voted for last time, worth $681 of my money.
