The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Saturday for the 11th time in 12 days, decreasing 1.3 cents to $4.637.
The average price has dropped 13.4 cents over the past 12 days, including 1.7 cents Friday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. The run began one day after a 13-day streak of decreases totaling 11.6 cents ended when the average price was unchanged.
The average price is 8.7 cents less than one week ago and 21.5 cents less than one month ago, but 21.5 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $1.856 since rising to a record $6.493 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price dropped for the 12th time in 13 days, falling 1.2 cents to $4.554. It has dropped 16.1 cents over the past 13 days, including 1.9 cents Friday. The run began one day after the end of a 12-day streak of decreases totaling 13.9 cents.
The Orange County average price is 10.3 cents less than one week ago and 25.5 cents less than one month ago, but 21.6 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $1.904 since rising to a record $6.458 on Oct. 5, 2022.
“This is the typical time of year when gasoline demand drops, and pump prices usually drop as well in December,” Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, said in a statement released Thursday. “Nationally, the gas price average dropped below $3 a gallon this week for the first time since 2021.”
The national average price dropped for the 15th time in the last 16 days on Saturday, falling 1.5 cents to $2.963. It has dropped 13.7 cents over the past 16 days, including 1.3 cents Friday. It is 4.9 cents less than one week ago, 12.1 cents less than one month ago and 6.3 cents less than one year ago. The national average price has dropped $2.053 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
