Boise State will make its second appearance in the LA Bowl in three seasons when it faces Washington at SoFi Stadium on Saturday.

The Broncos earned the berth when they defeated UNLV, 38-21, Friday in the Mountain West Football Championship in Boise, Idaho.

Boise State (9-4) finished in a four-way tie for the conference’s regular-season championship with UNLV, New Mexico and San Diego State, which all had 6-2 records in conference play.

Because all four teams did not meet this season, the tie was broken by a composite average of nationally recognized metrics: Connelly SP+, ESPN SOR, KPI and SportSource rankings.

UNLV led the foursome with a composite average of 45.50, followed by Boise State at 47.75. With the two participants determined, the tiebreaker reverted to head-to-head to determine the host, with the Broncos earning the right to host the championship due to their 56-31 win over the Rebels in Boise on Oct. 18.

The Broncos lost to UCLA, 35-22, in the 2023 LA Bowl. They again won the Mountain West Conference championship in 2024 and received a berth in the College Football Playoff as the third highest-ranked conference champion.

The LA Bowl has the fifth choice among former and current Pac-12 teams after the College Football Playoff and selected the Huskies (8-4) after the Sun Bowl chose Arizona State (8-4).
