Registered nurses at West Anaheim Medical Center plan to hold a three-day strike beginning Tuesday, union officials said Sunday.
The California Nurses Association said the nurses are striking “to protest the administration’s refusal to address RNs’ deep concerns about patient care, retention and recruitment of nurses, and safe staffing.”
The CNA represents more than 360 nurses at West Anaheim Medical Center, who voted to authorize the labor action on Jan. 14.
Picketing will begin Tuesday. The nurses also planned a rally for 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the hospital at 3033 W. Orange Ave.
The CNA said nurses have been in negotiations for a new contract since February 2025. They also held a one-day strike in August 2025.
Hospital officials could not be reached for comment.
The strike is one of multiple labor actions affecting Southland hospitals. Thousands of nurses at local Kaiser Permanente facilities have been striking for weeks, while more than 3,000 Kaiser pharmacy and lab employees concluded a three-day strike last week.
On Monday, registered nurses and other licensed medical professionals at Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center will begin a five-day strike.
