The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Friday for the second consecutive day after a 14-day streak of decreases totaling 12.8 cents ended, increasing 3.9 cents to $5.988.
The average price is 3.6 cents more than one week ago, 5.5 cents higher than one month ago and $1.178 above what it was one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 50.6 cents less than the record $6.494 set on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price rose 5.3 cents to $5.938, one day after increasing 3.3 cents. It is 6.9 cents more than one week ago, 5.1 cents higher than one month ago and $1.177 above what it was one year ago.
The Orange County average price is 52.1cents less than the record $6.459 set Oct. 5, 2022.
“As long as world oil supplies are constricted, California pump prices will continue to be volatile,” Kandace Redd, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s senior public affairs specialist, said in a statement released Thursday.
“Although today’s average prices are close to $6 a gallon locally, it’s important to know that many stations charge prices that are 50 or 60 cents lower per gallon than the average price.”
The national average price rose 2.8 cents to $4.059, one day after a run of 12 decreases in 13 days totaling 14.6 cents ended with an increase of 1.1 cents. It is 1.7 cents less than one week ago, but 8.2 cents more than one month ago and 88.8 cents higher than one year ago.
The average national price is 95.7 cents less than the record $5.016 set June 14, 2022.
