The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Saturday for the fifth consecutive day, decreasing 1.4 cents to $6.175.
The average price has dropped 3.9 cents over the past five days, including 1.1 cents Friday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 3.8 cents less than one week ago, but 22.6 cents more than one month ago and $1.37 higher than one year ago.
The average price has risen $1.481 since the joint U.S./Israel attack on Iran on Feb. 28, moving within 31.9 cents of the record $6.494 set Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price dropped for the ninth time in 10 days, decreasing 1.5 cents to $6.127. It has dropped 6.5 cents over the past 10 days, including 1.7 cents Friday. It is 4.8 cents less than one week ago, but 24.2 cents more than one month ago and $1.404 higher than one year ago. The Orange County average price has risen $1.491 since the joint U.S./Israel attack on Iran on Feb. 28, moving within 33.2 cents of the record $6.459 set Oct. 5, 2022.
The national average price recorded its largest decrease of the year, dropping 2.3 cents to $4.529, one day after a four-day streak of increases totaling 5.1 cents ended with a decrease of 1.2 cents. The national average price is 1.2 cents more than one week ago, 49.8 cents higher than one month ago and $1.332 more than one year ago. It has risen $1.547 since the attack on Iran, moving within 48.7 cents of the record $5.016 set June 14, 2022.
The national average price will also drop Sunday and Monday “perhaps seeing a rise after,” according to Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, which provides real-time gas price information from more than 150,000 stations.
