The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Friday for the 10th time in 11 days, decreasing 1.9 cents to $6.106.

The average price has fallen 10.6 cents over the past 11 days, including 1.9 cents Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It dropped six consecutive days, rose two-tenths of a cent on Monday and resumed decreasing Tuesday.

The average price is 8.3 cents less than one week ago, but 2.2 cents more than one month ago and $1.327 higher than one year ago.

The Orange County average price dropped for the 15th time in 16 days, decreasing 3 cents to $6.026. It has dropped 16.6 cents over the past 16 days, including 2.4 cents Thursday.

The Orange County average price dropped three consecutive days, rose one-tenth of a cent May 17 and resumed dropping May 18. It is 11.6 cents less than one week ago and 2 cents lower than one month ago but $1.337 more than one year ago.

“With oil prices dipping below $100 a barrel, we are seeing gas prices drop throughout California and nationwide,” Kandace Redd, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s senior public affairs specialist, said in a statement released Thursday.

“It’s hard to predict if that trend will continue, but if it does, Southern California drivers could see average gas prices drop below $6 a gallon soon.”

The national average price dropped for the eighth consecutive day, decreasing 3.5 cents to $4.391. It has dropped 17.3 cents over the past eight days, including 3.3 cents Thursday.

The streak of decreases follows a four-day streak of increases totaling 5.1 cents.

The national average price is 16.1 cents less than one week ago but 16.2 cents more than one month ago and $1.224 higher than one year ago.
