The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Wednesday for the eighth consecutive day, increasing nine-tenths of a cent to $5.694.
The average price has risen 5.2 cents over the past eight days, including four-tenths of a cent Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 4.8 cents more than one week ago, two-tenths of a cent higher than one month ago and $1.104 greater than one year ago.
The average price has increased $1 since the start of the joint U.S./Israel attack on Iran on Feb. 28, which sent oil prices higher and drastically accelerated increases at the gas pump.
The Orange County average price also rose for the eighth consecutive day, increasing four-tenths of a cent to $5.649. It has risen 7.4 cents over the past eight days, including six-tenths of a cent Tuesday.
The Orange County average price is 6.6 cents more than one week ago, 1.4 cents higher than one month ago and $1.091 greater than one year ago. It has increased $1.013 since the start of the attack on Iran.
The national average price rose a half-cent to $4.101 after a run of three decreases in four days totaling 1.3 cents, including three-tenths of a cent Tuesday. It is 1.5 cents more than one week ago and 91.5 cents higher than one year ago but nine-tenths of a cent less than one month ago.
The national average price has increased $1.119 since the attack on Iran. It is at its highest amount this late in the calendar year, according to Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, which provides real-time gas price information from more than 150,000 stations.
