A hiker who fell ill was hoisted off a trail near Rancho Mirage by a rescue helicopter Saturday.
Firefighter got the call at around 11:45 a.m. and trekked the Bump and Grind trail to reach the hiker, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
A California Highway Patrol helicopter was used to hoist the hiker off the trail.
The hiker was taken to a hospital in serious condition, fire officials said.
