The driver of a Honda Accord was airlifted to a hospital Sunday evening after the car rolled about 50 feet off a Chiriaco Summit roadway in the Coachella area.
The crash was reported at 9:38 p.m. at the Cottonwood Springs and Box Canyon roads off-ramp from the westbound 10 Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver was trapped inside the vehicle and freed by Riverside County firefighters, the CHP said.
The freeway was shut down while a Mercy Air Ambulance landed in lanes and took the driver to a hospital with moderate injuries, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
