An SUV overturned on the Riverside (91) Freeway Thursday at the western edge of Riverside, leaving the driver temporarily trapped but uninjured.
The crash was reported at 1:15 p.m. on the eastbound 91, just west of Tyler Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP reported the SUV driver was possibly swerving to avoid a sedan when he lost control of his vehicle, which flipped onto its roof. The SUV came to rest in the HOV and fast lanes, obstructing both.
Witnesses reported that the motorist was trapped, but by the time Riverside County Fire Department crews arrived five minutes later, the driver had extricated himself, according to reports from the scene. He declined medical attention.
CHP officers had a tow truck upright the SUV and move it to the shoulder, and all lanes were clear by 1:35 p.m.
