A fire Tuesday caused significant damage to a French Valley home and displaced 10 people, but nobody was hurt.
The blaze was reported about 2 p.m. near the intersection of Bordeaux Place and Thompson Road, just east of Highway 79, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered heavy smoke in the two-story residence, from which five adults and five children safely evacuated. Firefighters fully contained the flames a half-hour later.
Due to the extent of the damage, the property was deemed uninhabitable pending repairs.
American Red Cross personnel were contacted to help the occupants find temporary alternative lodgings, according to the fire department.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
