Firefighters needed more than an hour Monday evening to extinguish a brush fire that scorched at least two acres near Diamond Valley Lake in an unincorporated area near Hemet.
The fire was reported at 8:40 p.m. close to Santa Fe Street and Cactus Valley Road and the first crews on scene requested additional engines due to the rough terrain where the fire was burning, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The flames were contained at 9:48 p.m., the department said.
No injuries were immediately reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
