The eighth increase in nine days pushed the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County to its highest amount since Oct. 25, 2012 Friday.
The average price increased a half-cent to $4.295, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has increased 2.6 cents over the past nine days, including nine-tenths of a cent Thursday.
The Thursday average price was the highest since Feb. 28, 2013. The 2013 and 2014 figures included stations in San Bernardino County.
The average price is 2.2 cents higher than one week ago, 6.7 cents more than one month ago and $1.166 greater than a year ago. It has risen $1.119 since the start of the year because of a sharp increase in the oil price, and higher demand stemming from more people driving to work, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
