The number of people hospitalized with coronavirus in Riverside County fell again, but an additional 14 virus-related deaths were reported, according to the latest data.
Numbers released Tuesday by the Riverside University Health System showed COVID hospitalizations countywide were at 538, down three from Monday. The number includes 146 intensive care unit patients, seven more than a day earlier.
Another 1,225 COVID infections were confirmed, lifting the county’s overall number since the pandemic began to 346,493.
A total 4,851 deaths from virus-related complications have been recorded in the last 18 months. The fatalities are trailing indicators because of delays processing death certificates and can go back weeks, according to health officials.
During its regular meeting Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors did not request an update from the Department of Public Health on vaccinations, medical supply needs or any potential health care challenges stemming from the virus.
The number of known active virus cases in the county was 7,519, up 914 from a day earlier. The active count is derived by subtracting deaths and recoveries from the current total — 346,493 — according to the county Executive Office. Verified patient recoveries countywide were 334,123.
