A man was killed and one person was injured Monday in a multi-vehicle wreck on Interstate 215 in Perris.
The collision happened about 4:30 a.m. on northbound I-215 at Highway 74, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The agency said that at least four vehicles were involved in the wreck, but the circumstances were unclear.
Riverside County Fire Department personnel arrived within 20 minutes and found two people injured, one severely.
The CHP said that the critically injured party, whose identity was not immediately released, was taken to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley, where he died a few hours later.
The other victim, also not identified, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was being treated at the county hospital.
Both north- and southbound lanes on I-215 were impacted by the crash. The CHP kept two lanes closed on the northbound side until 5:45 a.m., while a preliminary investigation was conducted and debris was cleared from the freeway.
