More than 2,200 Imperial Irrigation District customers in Indio lost power Friday due to an outage of unknown origin, but most had their electricity restored in a few hours.
The utility alerted the public at 12:37 a.m. that 2,253 customers were impacted by the outage, and crews were dispatched to resolve the issue.
According to the utilities’ latest update, all but 133 customers in the area had their power restored by about 8 a.m.
The cause of the outage and estimated time of full restoration were unknown.
The IID serves electricity to more than 150,000 customers in parts of Riverside and San Diego counties, and all of Imperial County.
