A natural gas line ruptured by yard work in Desert Hot Springs Wednesday prompted shelter-in-place orders for residents living nearby.
The Riverside County Fire Department received a report of the rupture at 10:21 a.m. in the 11300 block of Bald Eagle Lane.
According to officials, firefighters and Southern California Gas Co. crews were deployed onto the scene to assist in making repairs to the rupture.
Desert Hot Springs police were also present to the enforce shelter-in-place orders.
The gas rupture was repaired at 12:41 p.m. according to Southern California Gas Co. officials. The rupture was allegedly caused by yard work done by a third-party contractor.
Officials urged the public to call 811 before undertaking any yard work to ensure they do not accidental hit a pipeline.
