Firefighters Tuesday were on the scene of an approximately 300-square-foot tamarisk tree fire in Indio that is expected to burn for the next couple of days.

The Riverside County Fire Department received a report of a vegetation fire at 6:12 p.m. Monday in the area of Avenue 42 and Clinton Street.

Fire crews arrived on the scene to find multiple tamarisk trees fully enveloped in flames.

Crews were on the scene overnight and are expected to remain there as the fire smolders for the next couple of days.

Officials advised the public that drift smoke will be visible during this time.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
